It does mean there is *way* more service on us since we must self-govern — but I understand and appreciate this task now.

Yes, US is heading in the direction of UK/NZ/Oz but nowhere near as far along the path. In my case, it’s the faculty code, which enshrines shared governance, that seems to drive the difference.
