SNIPPET SATURDAY! 💙📚
“Don’t pay the looks any mind, Miss Gatebird,” Ser Branwyn said. “Folks get a bit uneasy when they see too many of us at once. Makes them think something’s going on.”
But something is going on, Selba wanted to say. Something silent and horrible.

I find transitions challenging! There is an intuition involved in knowing where to end a scene & where to begin the next one, and even if you KNOW where a transition should go, they can be difficult to write elegantly.

I love all my children equally*
*Arlo and Irene from THE DEVIL'S BIND will live in my mind forever for having the most complicated and compelling relationship dynamics I've ever written

Aside from reading (duh), I am a music enthusiast, a show watcher, a video game player, and occasional baker. Although I'm currently failing to keep a sourdough starter alive...

I'm firmly a plantser -- I always have A Plan, but it's never set in stone.
I did try a new strategy for DeadGirlsWIP, which was to outline scenes on note cards before I started drafting, and I have found it helpful enough to be repeated for future projects!

Good afternoon, I hope everyone appreciates how obsessed I am with writing tired, jaded characters who act like vicious guard dogs to protect their loved ones 🤭

Good: be consistent, accept only the feedback that helps you grow, read a lot, keep learning, make friends with other writers
Bad: “show don’t tell” (iykyk), never use adverbs, only write what you know, write 1,000 words a day, “realistic” = good, “said is dead”

I usually describe my work as SFF romance, though I tend to genre-bend a lot within that "SFF" label.
I read fantasy, sci-fi, and horror, as well as many subgenres of romance.

Fav line from DeadGirlsWIP:
"They swam with some unknowable thought — which was strange, and terrible, because there was a time when Selba knew every thought in Valerie’s head. When she could pluck them from the ether just as easily as she could her own."

Free Friday = asking you nicely to buy my book
CAT/MOUSE is a fun, fast-paced novella set on a space station, feat. a butch WOC bounty hunter & a femme purple alien art thief. It's sapphic, it's noir, it's sci-fi, it's romantic!

I don't know if I'm in the minority here, but I don't really use many "tools" in my writing process. The only new thing I tried recently was the index card method for plotting scenes.
Besides that, I use a word processor, a notebook, a pen, & the thesaurus, lol.
