But the ICE thugs doing so have accents too. They are just deciding (incorrectly) some accents are less American than others, which is NOT okay. But the assholes doing that also have accents.
Of course, generally speaking, they are too ignorant to realize that. But let’s not stoop to their level.

Why, yes, I have moved around the US enough that my time in and connection to certain cities with highly geographically specific accents has contributed to this post. But, sheesh.

I know it takes more words, but what we mean is people with an accent that is not the standard white-people accent in a given area.

Alex from our time working together, while he was in nursing school. Later, he moved to ICU, working as a nurse to support critically ill Veterans. He had such a great attitude. We’d chat between patients about trying to get in a mountain bike ride together. Will never happen now
