My only description is done with explaining myself
Remembering friends and other arts community members lost to AIDS in the 80s and 90s, and thinking of the many others throughout the years and world. This work was bequeathed to me by one of them.

I’ve always loved this time of year but living up here I love it even more because it’s the precious time between the snow and black flies lol. I’ve had a Ruffed Grouse hanging around the back of my house lately and this Pine Marten came to visit. Such a sweet animal.

John Scott was the real deal. His brilliance and lack of artifice slices and speaks for his dark content reminding me the best art speaks for itself without the art talk required today. Not that I need reminding. Great exhibition @mcmichaelgallery.bsky.social

I’ve become interested in Tom Thomson because of living here. I did not see the exhibition North Star at McMichael but recently got the deluxe catalogue out of the local library. I found this essay by Douglas Hunter particularly interesting.

I am very excited to have completed the first draft of my passion project paper (make that PPP), Canadian Dharma History- St. Catharines ON. I have some revisions to make but the finish line is close at hand. I need to find a home for it.

What a relief to be able to walk again! The trails where I live are made for snowmobiles not feet. It’s always been difficult in the winter and since my beloved dog died, I just didn’t get out. When I’m outside walking, I can’t help myself from calling his name. I’m so grateful for his life.

This morning I could see the Buddha’s eyes and now I can see his nose. The sound of snow and ice melting is my favourite right now rivalling that white breasted nuthatch.

Made it to Ice Follies in North Bay! Saw the performance by Aanmitaagzi. LOVED the canoes. I taught Penny many years ago!

I was in Toronto for 10 days, the longest I’ve ever been away from this house. This little Greenworks snow shovel is a lifesaver and I use the same 40 W battery for two summer tools. Greenworks is a Chinese company. Maybe we could make our own electric powered snow shovels and blowers!

Extraordinary concert by baritone Samuel Chan who chose repertoire and spoke brilliantly about DEI issues as an Asian-Canadian opera singer living in Germany.
