this ramble kinda got away from me/the actual question guys, my b

Turns out, if you have enough power, all sorts of rules get bent for you 🤷 (though in Isabelle's case, it's generally more about "who can she be most useful for", as she doesn't actually get that many benefits from her weird in-between life.) 11/11

This is why MC Isabelle, who is constantly "partially shifted" (she always has wolf ears and an otherwise human shape), is such a paradox. She's defying Lunar taboos, but she's a Warrior. She's Unclaimed by any clan, but she's powerful enough to earn top contracts. 10/11
February 12, 2026 at 1:14 PM
Lunars are expected to keep their full human form at all times, ESPECIALLY Warriors. This is why channeling moonlust into other pursuits is so critical to their society, and why so much of their society is built around it.
Some Lunars definitely do shift in privacy, but it's a big taboo. 9/11

This is officially rambling, BUT - with the power of the full moon, Lunarbeasts are capable of fully shifting into a monstrous wolf form, but it's actually really frowned upon, and fully shifting can be grounds for disciplinary action. 8/11

Warriors are seen as the pinnacle of Lunarbeast ideals - strong, resilient, completely committed to the Clan, and dedicated to discipline and self control. Because of the effects of the full moon, Lunar society has a heavy emphasis on discipline, and Warriors are expected to embody that. 7/11

There are those who fail out of the difficult training regiment, but it's honestly rare - there's a much heavier emphasis on making sure complete their training No Matter What. Warriors are very lucrative for their clans, and a clan wants as many active Warriors as possible. 6/11
February 12, 2026 at 1:14 PM
Warrior training has to start below a certain age; if you get too old, you can no longer be considered.
Werewolf children are watched very carefully to see who might be a viable candidate. Sometimes they're "discovered", sometimes their parents lobby for their acceptance into training. 5/11
February 12, 2026 at 1:14 PM
Lunarbeast Clans have a very strict hierarchy heavily soaked in classism. Because Warriors bring in the most money for a given clan, they're ranked just below the Alpha class, and are given privileged housing.
(They also are very heavily restricted and lose a lot of personal freedoms.) 4/11
February 12, 2026 at 1:14 PM
To stretch the question a little further - most other species have innate magical abilities, but just like any physical attribute, genetics and effort to train can definitely affect how "powerful" an individual is.
For example, in Werewolf society, Warriors are considered the elite. 3/11

Unfortunately, concepts like "limiting access to knowledge", "controlling the means", and "making sure the work stays exclusive" absolutely exist in this world. For humans, education on creating runes is expensive, and for Fae, they tend to strictly guard their work secrets by bloodline. 2/11
