More relatedly, I’ve seen Thompson’s Who Goes Nazi piece floating around a bit lately. While it is a beautifully written piece, I think it’s worth noting that she was initially completely wrong about Hitler. Was not actually that good at seeing who would go Nazi. harpers.org/archive/1941...

The obvious answer: they want to generate headlines like this, because they sense domestic pressure to dump AUKUS.

I think a UBI is an interesting idea, but it's flatly not true to say that we already had one. 'Everyone' =/= 'people on JobKeeper or welfare'. Less than a quarter of Australia's population received those payments. www.abc.net.au/news/2025-09...
