Get ready for this to be used against Gaza protests, if it happens. Legislating against freedom of speech and freedom of protest has implications for everyone, not just the people you disagree with the most.

I find it quite refreshing how Google was like "we're not building an AI data centre in Christmas Island" and Reuters was just like "yeah but they're lying though" www.reuters.com/world/asia-p...

It is very funny that A7A5 hired a famous fraudster to promote them and even he was like "no I have no cryptocurrency, that stuff is super dodgy" www.cryptopolitan.com/catch-me-if-...

More relatedly, I’ve seen Thompson’s Who Goes Nazi piece floating around a bit lately. While it is a beautifully written piece, I think it’s worth noting that she was initially completely wrong about Hitler. Was not actually that good at seeing who would go Nazi. harpers.org/archive/1941...

A7A5 is only one of the ways in which A7 is moving money illicitly, or illegally, across borders. Our new investigation uncovers how A7 is using a network of shell companies around the world to move money via methods which are effectively forms of trade-based money laundering.

Almost aspirational levels of pettiness here. I too would like a pillar erected to my personal gripes.

I've also kept the West German oregano. It's what she would have wanted. Eventually my grandchildren can donate it to a museum or eat it and develop superpowers or something.

Some people remember their grandmothers through recipes or jewelry or beautiful family rituals.

I’m remembering mine by working my way through using the huge stash of stationery she stole from the work cupboard in the 1960s. This feels appropriate for us both.

Let me pose the obvious question: why are US military officials showing their supposedly secret documents from months ago to Australian journalists right at this particular moment?

The obvious answer: they want to generate headlines like this, because they sense domestic pressure to dump AUKUS.

Sad that this is only tinfoil doorknobs and not tinfoil hats. Why not go all the way at this point.

I think a UBI is an interesting idea, but it's flatly not true to say that we already had one. 'Everyone' =/= 'people on JobKeeper or welfare'. Less than a quarter of Australia's population received those payments. www.abc.net.au/news/2025-09...

I would genuinely stop to adjust my hair into a protective style when riding past this magpie in Canberra

I’ve never once been swooped by a Melbourne magpie. I’ve been repeatedly targeted with precision strikes by Canberran magpies.

Wait no, Trump blaming the UN because his own cameraman used the escalator wrong and then the White House spokesperson creating a baseless conspiracy theory about it - THAT'S the perfect metaphor

Trump blaming the UN because his own cameraman was using an escalator wrong is just the most perfect metaphor.
