and respect has nothing to do with emotion and everything to do with reason...afterall, strip away the skin and we're all essentially the same. Bigotry, however, is all emotion and no rationale. I'm less than because I'm XX, or because I have freckles, or curly hair, or....

A lack of a theist belief. I agree that it's our default setting... it's not like we're born with any beliefs.
