Are you an editor?

I objected to the way the original poster made her statement which seemed harsh and blunt to me, as a writer. Are personal opinions attacked on this site?

You get free submissions, without which, you would have no job. No writer is asking for charity. They just want a subjective evaluation. If that doesn't meet with your criterion, so be it. I am on many sites with other writers.
There should be a better way to find the good ones.

Yeah, well these same people rejected Harry Potter so maybe they should change their systems. Some editor somewhere took the time and effort for J.R. Rowling.

I get that. Rejection is part of growth. And again, I have written 17 stories plus. Not averse to any feedback or criticism. Part of the whole. My post indicated a righteous indignation for my breed, nothing more.

Who said anything about ignoring guidelines. I'm saying, if you elect to do a job, do it with compassion and the view, it may affect others. I don't mind rejection, it's part of the writer's life. How can anyone make a decision on a few paragraphs?

I have written 17 stories, Molly. I love tips and usually listen and learn. I haven't made a big break but I've had a blast trying.

Any writer is 'entitled' to the time and labor' of any publisher or associate that takes on the responsibility of reviewing the work sent in. A sip of wine doesn't give anything but a taste. A real connoisseur would savors... gives consideration to the flavor, texture, scent. Write much?

In some professions but when you are dealing with a story someone has put their entire life into? Show a little discernment and compassion, you would expect the same.

Then maybe you've been at your job too long, and it's turned you into a jaded, I don't give a shit about Indie authors and the power has gone to my head, type of person. Yeah? Give the story a chance. If you it's taking up your valuable time, then you have chosen the wrong vocation.
