#JuneWorldbuilders D2: This is a snippet from my dark sci-fantasy Snowdrop WIP. The whole book’s written from Rowena’s POV and this is from chapter 1. She’s still a young kid here but by the end of the book she’s about 16.
Snippet from Elisa Winther’s Wish Upon a Snowdrop, currently still a work in progress. The book is written from Rowena’s point of view, and is an adult dark sci-fantasy including found family, a shapeshifting cat demon, dealing with loss and grief, and healing from trauma. The text is from chapter 1. The image includes the text: “I quickly clapped my hands around my mouth, but it was too late. They’d pretend to pay attention but actually, they’d watch me like crows eyeballing the dead. I could already hear them whisper on again. Most of her words were too soft, but I could still make out a “-talking to demons-” in between. Which was rubbish. I didn’t talk to demons. I talked to ghosts whenever papa allowed me to come along on one of his Sendings. But that distinction had never made a difference. To them, I was still the kid who learned to talk from monsters.”

We went to the butterfly conservatory in Niagara Falls. Definitely a highlight with how many were there. Even had a blue morpho on my hand 🥰
