If thermals and leakage were an issue we’d hear way more about it. Consoles are redesigned all the time with different thermals and heat sinks to accommodate redesigned chips.

That sounds like fear-mongering. The PS5 is five years old now and has sold multi-millions. Tons of those five-year-old consoles are set up vertically. I think after 5 years if there was any major issue we would be hearing about millions of consoles breaking by now.

You will only have an issue if you take your PS5 apart and then put it back together improperly and then stand it vertically.

Well I mean the reason MS HAD to replace them for free was because most of them died within 2 years and it would have been the end of Xbox if they didn’t. Yeah, Sony not replacing out of warranty PS3s for free is a bummer, but they also didn’t have 95% of all launch consoles die within two years.

If the majority are dying within the last 5 years, then it’s not a comparison to the 360 where the majority of launch and launch window consoles died DURING that generation.
