The downsides I can see is that Foundry can be a bit heavy on your computer and connection, but there are ways to alleviate that weight. Honestly, please give it a try.

Thank you.

(I'll use my last characters to say that I was not paid by Foundry to make this promotion, I just really love them)

Basically, by this point, I'm ranting. But I do not joke when I say that Foundry is an awesome tool that changed my way to GM. Roll20 (and FantasyGrounds for the small amount of time I've tried it) do NOT come to the comfort Foundry brought me.

Also, what TTRPG you like to play? ... Hmhmm... Nice! YOU CAN PLAY IT ON FOUNDRY! Thanks to very dedicated groups, Foundry is quickly updated on most systems and even has a "Custom System Builder" for your smaller needs.

And all of that with a very active and nice discord to support and help you!

Foundry is a software allowing you to create a server YOU host, meaning no need to fear that your table won't be available the night you'll play. It's all on your computer! (Doesn't stop your own connection to break down but ey, at least you're not at the mercy of an outside server)

Most modules are free, some need you to pay on their module workshop, others come if you subscribe to the creator's patreon.

But basically, to play, you only need to pay once. And the free modules? They are GODDAMN GOOD!!

And that's only the start of it.

Foundry is highly modulable thanks to its community which creates high quality QoL modules that you can install with only ONE CLICK! And yes, the Foundry devs do work on updating the system regularly, adding new functions and greater support.

(We got one guy that makes a 3d view module btw)

HI! Do you know about Foundry, which is, to me, the best alternative to Roll20? No? LET ME PITCH YOU. No, wait. I WILL PITCH YOU.

Foundry is a software VTT with a licence you only have to pay once. (Crazy in 2025, *no subscription*!)
