seriously though LMAO my old fandom was so uptight about this shit too, like it was very oc/canon oriented and god help you if you shipped your oc with a villain npc - or if you had a fem character and you shipped with an npc that was queer-coded........because you know, bi people dont exist

I do think though that even if the story isn't entirely deep, that the characters do have a lot more depth than people give them credit for. They have backstories and reasons and thoughts that we have no idea about because we don't know them fully. To take them at surface level is insane.
