Postdoc, Uni of Bergen, Norway, working on personal and political agency in Brexlit.

Worked as an engineer for years prior to this. Quit, studied literature, ended up doing a PhD on Richard Rorty at Cambridge.

I commute by catamaran across a fjord.
Wow! How wonderful! Can I sign up to talk about Brexlit and British populism? I can't today (or March, for that matter) but later this spring?

One reason Zelensky was attacked for what he was wearing is that clothes-shaming is something these men do to women.

It's to code him as feminine, weak, emotional,unfit to lead (as not masculine=Rational; see also "don't tell us how to feel" & Kremlin praising Trump for being the reasonable part)

That's also a reason they won't do the same to Musk/how he shows he's the above reproach (the myth of the white male genius incarnate. If they start outfit-policing him he's in trouble).

How about a mystery novel rather than a textbook? I loved this as a teen, although getting hold of a copy now might be difficult: "the nonfictional content of the book aligns with Bertrand Russell's A History of Western Philosophy";

Been thinking so much about the sense of loss in the novels that responded to Brexit. Hoping to write about it next year.

I guess that depends on how much you will use it -- I use it a lot. It had some issues at the start, but most issues seem resolved now. It's fairly new I think. I love that it knows not to read "irrelevant" text, footers and such, and just understands the structure of academic writing.

This! So much this! Have you read Astra Taylor's The Age of Insecurity: Coming together as things fall apart? I'm working on it now as part of making a case for why democratic cultures should centre skills for coping with insecurity and uncertainty (as opposed to being projects of securitization)

I wanted to name him Beelzebub, but my husband was worried what the neighbours would think when we'd call the cat in at night. So a 17th century heretic was our compromise.

Love this! I haven't posted much, ever, on social media as it terrifies me. But a cat picture! I can do a cat picture!
While born with Wobbly Cat Syndrome, Spinoza *knows* he's indomitable. Now that I've officially paid my #BrookeEntryTax I guess I am morally obliged to join the conversation.
