Shout out to @caitlinpatler.bsky.social for her hard work on this. I’m happy for the small part I played in this, too.
Our research shows that ending birthright citizenship "would cause serious harm…to the entire United States."

It is my honor to join with 95 other social scientists, all of us specialists in US immigration, in signing this new Amicus Curiae brief.

Super important research showing Dem strategy of moving to the right to try to persuade swing voters is generally a losing strategy.
1/🧵 Following up on our study featured in NYT today, this figure provides a macro-level view:

Dem vote shares rise with turnout parity (left) but fall with party-level ideological moderation (right). This suggests mobilizing base voters > persuading swing voters by moving to the center.

The incoming administration now wants to terrorize communities by going after children in schools and families in churches. This is an abhorrent stance not just for human rights and community wellbeing, but also just downright terrible public policy.
I cannot even articulate how absolutely catastrophic it will be if the Trump admin rescinds ICE's sensitive locations policy. The only undocumented immigrants I know who were ordered deported by the Trump admin & successfully fought their cases were people who had the ability to enter sanctuary.
Trump plans to scrap policy restricting ICE arrests at churches, schools and hospitals
The long-standing policy has prevented ICE agents from arresting immigrants at so-called "sensitive locations" except under certain circumstances.
