The Yakwawiak are creatures from Appalachian + Ohio River Valley Indigenous histories (such as Lenape and Shawnee).
They were huge and shaggy, with giant heads that bore two enormous horns or tusks. Their aggressive nature led to all other beings banding together and destroying them.

I love this. And we should add thousands of years of Indigenous accounts and centuries of colonial accounts. Oh, and people like Jane Goodall. I didn't ask her about Sasquatch when I met her, but I trust her just a liiittle more than people who have never set foot in the woods in their life, lol. XD

Practically all the classic Thanksgiving foods are from Native people: turkey, corn, cranberries, etc. And they are good to eat, but while you do, you can learn the true history of this holiday by listening to those same people! The Wampanoag are here today and every other day of the year.

Predator: Badlands was really good (and surprisingly brutal!), and the creature design was awesome. Weta Workshop always goes hard.

Predator: Badlands was really good (and surprisingly brutal!), and the creature design was awesome. Weta Workshop always goes hard.

November is Native American/Indigenous People's Month, and I just realized that, purely by coincidence, my debut novel, which also features an Indigenous (Oklahoma Cherokee) protagonist, comes out on the 25th!
And last month, I connected deeply with my Taíno roots in Puerto Rico. PERFECCIÓN!
