There’s definitely something to this. When removing turnovers and sacks, where the Vikings thrive, they drop to the 3rd defense, 4th when adjusting for schedule. So their defensive ranking is definitely being pulled up by those high variance plays. They get torn up across the middle consistently.

I figured it would create some problems. I think the OT0 is a good solution to communicate that. One other idea I had, it would be cool to color code the stats displayed in tables to show if they’re above or below league average. As long as it doesn’t get too messy, it could provide good context.

Of course! The little changes can do a lot of good. Out of curiosity, how does it handle overtime? Does it start counting back up?

After SNF, Justin Jefferson is second in the league in yards from DPI. He also leading the league in DPI drawn. As a team, the Vikings are second in DPI yards, with 7 of their 9 DPIs coming from JJ. #SKOL #Vikings #MinnesotaVikings

Great visualization! I wonder if the rolling epa graph would be better with game seconds, or using game seconds instead of play id. Small change but I think it would be a little more clear when the big swings occurred. Good stuff tho!

I did a similar thing for EPA here, looking at how their schedule performed against other opponents. Extremely impressive against the run! Allowing -.306 EPA to an expected -.062!
