Reading @briantallerico.bsky.social’s article on the ROG Xbox Ally X warms my cold, curmudgeonly gamer heart. I may look into getting one for Black Friday…..yeah, yeah for the kids.

Also @cinemajaw.bsky.social a correction to Matt’s correction - Dalton’s second Bond film isn’t A View to A Kill but The Living Daylights lol

@cinemajaw.bsky.social sweet picks for the top film transformations! Shoutouts for Rooney Mara in the Girl with the Dragon Tattoos American remake and Sean Penn in Carlito’s Way. Superb performances for each!

@cinemajaw.bsky.social cannot wait to see Sentimental Value! How Does Skaarsgard’s work in it compare to his performance in Breaking the Waves? To me, that was his best work to date.

@cinemajaw.bsky.social another great episode! I gotta push back on Ry’s assessment of Nosferatu. The original is so vastly superior over the other two remakes (including Werner Herzog’s version). Eggers just isn’t my type of director, I guess.

@cinemajaw.bsky.social K-Pop Demon Hunters had no business as great it is. The film overall is ok, but the music and visuals are incredible. S-tier soundtrack

@cinemajaw.bsky.social loved your picks for best vacation films! My number one is Lost in Translation but shouting out Midnight in Paris, Vicky Christina Barcelona, Forgetting Sarah Marshall, Aftersun, and To Catch A Thief (1955) by Hitchcock.

@briantallerico.bsky.social just saw your write up on Alien: Earth and I’m psyched to see it! I’m not too well versed in the Alien lore but I’m down for more Noah Hawley.

@cinemajaw.bsky.social I got some hot takes for the MCU tiers. I’d only put Black Panther, The Winter Soldier, Iron Man, and Guardians 1 in the top tier. The rest can go in the bottom tier - especially Ragnarok, I’d put that in “6 feet under ground tier”. Absolutely hated the tone and writing in it.

@cinemajaw.bsky.social Lovely new episode. KP’s articulation on her feelings about Fantastic Four is astute. I have the same background as Ryan and have no attachment to the source material but I can see how the more hardcore fans can be disappointed. I liked FF and feel like it’s better than

@cinemajaw.bsky.social Matt K putting Hackman at #3 and Hoult as #1 on the list of Luthors is….correct. If we’re strictly speaking performance to the character, yeah…he’s right. Hackman is a tremendous actor who did as much as he could, maybe we can blame the writing more than his performance.

Describe your favorite movie in the most misleading way possible.

@cinemajaw.bsky.social dug the pics for top 5 spinoff films! Venom was a clutch pick, Matt! I disagree with Ry on Rogue One because it’s outside of the main trilogies. It’s 100% a spin off - KP and Matt’s on the money on this. I’d put Zathura, Birds of Prey, Maleficent, and US Marshalls on my list.
