The UK isn’t a “soft touch” on asylum.

UK asylum seeker benefits are similar to European neighbours

No right to work before 12 months (it’s 6 months in France, Spain, Belgium, Netherlands)

UK settlement after 5 years (it’s 3 or 4 in Germany)

Let’s cut out the alarmist rhetoric.

Despite popular belief, professional women don’t have a habit of just crying when work gets tough. Are we really still living in a world where people still think that little of us? Give Reeves a break. She’s one of the most stoic and robust women in that place. #Solidarity.

PSI: these people were not allowed in by a “loophole”, they were allowed in by an entirely correct and justifiable application of human rights laws which were strongly supported by the PM himself at a time when he believed in something

It was great to see so many at the Legal Aid Practitioners Group (LAPG) on Friday in what was a really inspiring conference. Privileged to have been asked to contribute at the busy housing law workshop and to share the stage with the wonderful Ann Bevington Laura Coyle and chair Kate Pasfield.
Eleri Griffiths spoke at the Legal Aid Practitioners Group (LAPG) Housing Workshop on homelessness, the use of B&Bs as temporary accommodation and tactics for dealing with local authorities collaboratively and through litigation.

Truly awful, shocking news. Hard to put into words how much Simon meant to the housing law community. He will be remembered for many things - enthusiasm, knowledge, humour and compassion, naming just a few. Condolences to his family at this unbearable time. We will miss you terribly, dear friend.
This is awful news. Simon was an absolute force of nature in housing legal aid and has done so very much for all of us. He was also a genuinely lovely man. This is a great shock. My heartful thoughts for his family, colleagues and (many, many) friends.
