I like when games use regular tiles and world map tiles on the same screen to represent the foreground/background. Neat effect

Oh, and not only does teleporting into a wall kill you, teleporting above the top floor (i.e. to the surface) causes you to get lost in the forest and die. Nethack-level attention to detail

Final party:

Ero-lia (エロリア): physical attacker, tank [STR]
Lana (ラナ): thief/off-attacker/boomerang spammer [LUC/AGI]
Demon King's Wife (嫁様): healer/off-magic attacker [MAG]
Harnas (ハーナス): offensive caster, overpowered breath attack spammer [MAG]

The loot matched the original Wizardry's curve almost exactly, starting out incredibly stingy with nothing but store-brand crap and consumable items, and not that many different ones, before offering better, more interesting, and more varied loot from midgame on, like this sick +EXP sword

There's an odd system where if you take too many steps in the dungeon, the enemies get stronger; this repeats a while later. Strengthened enemies are so much more dangerous that they never felt worth fighting -- I think it's supposed to be risk/reward, but I found it more of a 'get out now' warning

The game uses a CTB-ish custom battle system that's a nice break from the RPG Maker 2K default. Zako are relatively unthreatening; bosses and bounty enemies (who randomly jump out at you in certain areas and can be killed for huge cash rewards) can be tough, though I outscaled them by the end.

The dungeon design takes a bit to get going and is sometimes repetitive/memey (think Labyrinth of Touhou 1) but starting from the midgame, it's generally pretty fun. I'm fond of Chute Hell (first image) and the two-floor fortress-and-basement (second two images)
