I'm not sure if that's the case, tho it might be. I think they were struggling to understand what he wanted them to do. But it could be they dropped tools having watched how he treated some of the squad members...? His treatment of Mainoo felt unwarranted for instance

I was watching and thinking the same. Amorim must have had some personal issues with Kobbie, it just doesn't make sense that anyone who knows anything about football would opt for Ugarte over Kobbie.

Watching that, I kind of get where scholes is coming from now. He's saying the criticism in his day would spur him on to prove the naysayers wrong. Modern footballers (and generally society now) are a bit more fragile to handle criticism and need different motivators. I think Mourinho said similar
