A word of warning for people: blocks are public information… so it’s a lot safer to mute IMHO (muting = private)

Have you thought about creating a Fediverse account on mastodon.art? Engagement on the Fediverse is much more genuine… and I see a lot of illustrators, artists and photographers thriving on there

In Mastodon’s defense, it only happens on its official client (web UI) but not on its official mobile app… or on any of the third client apps / platforms I routinely use. That’s the advantage of true decentralization 💪

It’s so odd to me. I get 100x more engagement on the Fediverse (not exaggerating). Genuine interactions with Fedi friends who see my posts. The only time I have 0 likes it’s when GoToSocial fails to federate because I had a post that got a little too popular for my server. It’s like night and day.

I hear you! I have 1k followers here and my posts get 1 like at best. I’m not a fan of algorithmic feeds, so I typically just check “following” (which is how I stumbled upon your post)

Yeah if I didn’t have a self-hosted GoToSocial instance I’d be having a mini panic attack right now 😢 it’s my safety net accessible via masto-fe, Phanpy and elk zone (on desktop). This feels pretty safe at the moment

Do you think that age verification laws could irrevocably harm the Fediverse? If popular apps that rely on the Mastodon API (the official app but also Ivory and Mona) get banned by Apple and Google play stores?
