The news out of El Fashir is gut-wrenching. The first Sudanese people I met were from El Fashir, my former students in Amman- Thankful to be surrounded by 🇸🇩 friends in Cairo & to co-teach an online seminar today w/ my colleague, Amira Ahmed, on Sudanese social movements @ Uni of Cologne

I am thrilled to be back in Cairo and to officially start my PhD field research today! I am very much looking forward to deep diving into the lives of my Sudanese friends and acquaintances over the next 12 months. To make my research more accessible, I have created a Zine, I hope you enjoy it!

As January 25th approaches there have been mass raids in Cairo targeting African migrant communities, even those with UNHCR documentation are being detained.
