Was great to attend my first #DGSKA conference. Thanks to my colleague, Karim Zafer, for inviting me to discuss “Un/Commoning Migration: Do we still need Migration Studies”. Was also great to see my friend and colleague, Dudu Ndlovu, a co-author in our book, Making Routes!

I am thrilled to be back in Cairo and to officially start my PhD field research today! I am very much looking forward to deep diving into the lives of my Sudanese friends and acquaintances over the next 12 months. To make my research more accessible, I have created a Zine, I hope you enjoy it!

As January 25th approaches there have been mass raids in Cairo targeting African migrant communities, even those with UNHCR documentation are being detained.
