Not to mention the efforts of all the solutions that work on improving performance for the end user - being able to measure the impact of these improvements can drive the whole industry forward and bring stronger solutions instead of relying on just guesstimations and incomplete data representation.

Also there are differences in browsers' behaviors and implementations of standards, so we cannot assume that CWV numbers on Chrome are an accurate representation of user experience on Safari.

Echoing so many of the people here - you cannot improve what you don't measure. In the US specifically over 1/3 of the people use Safari and IOS, currently we are blind to what is happening to the user performance for Apple users.
