I recommend reading the books! The first one is brilliant, the second one slows a bit and the third feels a lot like Howey was trying to fill things in. The 2nd and 3 books are still good reads, especially when you figure out how things are connected.

This is probably the most accurate about the reading of the books. I did finish book 3 and it was not what I expected, and not in a good way. Hopefully the show goes in a different direction for the ending.
