Yeah, I somehow missed until just now that she is from Pittsburgh. I, too, and from Squirrel Hill, and it is not lost on me what it means that she grew up on Beechwood Blvd and went to Shadyside Academy. I'm sure all Pittsburghers see through her shtick. And crossing a picket line?! Fuuuck her.

Thank you. I felt like I was having a stroke, reading this.

Second guess is the Presidential Library.

The ballroom, probably.

Let me assure you, you are not missing much.

I saw one that said, "He rushed to get the van ready, in case there was a new cadaver." Also darkly funny.

Wow, I did not know that the trend of AI-boosted living standards goes back to *checks insane chart*...1870! It sure has been linear progress all along. *quickly covers y axis, so you can't see that this chart has an R^2 of like 0.0001*

So what you’re saying is: he redid this bathroom so he could sit on his golden throne and watch his ballroom being built on top ofthe ruins of the East Wing? Yeah, that tracks.

This dude is arguing that (presumably opioids) should only be available for palliative care? I hope he has surgery soon, and demands to not be given opioids.

Oh, and his assumption that we haven’t been just as upset about Afghanistan for the past 25 years is adorable.

i honestly am more surprised on a daily basis about the rightwing authoritarian capture of our entire media apparatus than i am of our political one. the latter makes more sense given the last 20 years but the media being so entirely fucked in every way is killing me

No woman ever tearfully shouted, “I like beer!” at their Senate confirmation hearing, as far as I know.

…to me is how many other people didn’t question this, either because they had no idea what it was, didn’t get why it would be hurtful, or possibly interpreted it in some other, equally appalling way (“Oh mass murder, very scary! Perfect for Halloween!) It truly takes a village to fuck up this bad.

…”I’m arguing against the Nazis by saying that work won’t set you free.”
You know, I often forget that a majority of Americans can’t name one (!) concentration camp, let alone have an in-depth understanding of the scale of total horror that took place in the camps. The most disturbing part…

It’s not at all clear that he understands that the Nazis were mocking the victims of their express plan to murder via forced labor (Vernichtung durch Arbeit), by putting “work will set you free” (by killing you) on the entryway to a place that no one was meant to leave. This seems to just think..

This was the first election I ever voted in, and it was completely clear to me how twisted what happened was, from the hanging chads to the FL AG being tied to the Bushes. Its been a story of the deterioration of our democracy since then. (Not that I ever missed an election. I guess I am stubborn.)

Our country had two diametrically opposed, early founding traditions: one sought the expansion of a free society based on enlightenment rationality (despite huge moral failing re:slavery), while the other wanted the expansion of religious freedom for fundamentalist nutcases. It was ever thus.

"Reeks of weak morals" is the most concise summary of J.D. Vance I've ever seen.

Oh God, what tragedy to die by suicide in February of 1942. At the absolute nadir of the war, a year out from the end of the battle of Stalingrad and the turning of the tide. This is itself a warning not to give up hope, even when all seems lost.

If that's not proof that the "OK" symbol is a white supremacist thing, I don't know what is.

Reminder that you can be shocked while not being surprised. I know I am regularly these days.
