Not actually an electric rabbit.

Resident of the People's Republic of Western Australia

White, middle-aged, male, heterosexual - but not scared of you if you're not.
The WAFL and SANFL are barely a shadow of a shadow of what they once were, relegated to a feeder league, the clubs diminished and nearly forgotten.

Most of the time it's treated like there was no Australian Football history outside Vic before 1987/1991.

A properly formed national league, with equal input from all states would have been a much better option, but there was no way the VFL was going to let that happen.

Thus today, the rich history of WA and SA footy has effectively been binned while Victoria's history continues on.

Not so sure that it was the best thing. It was the only option with the behemoth that was the VFL at the time.

The WAFC had their hand forced due to the repeated and never-ending raiding of WA clubs for players in the 70s and 80s, decimating the WAFL to the point the game was dying.

Tassie though should be held well above that standard, but only to a more appropriate standard would be the at the modern Carrara and GWS at the Sydney Showground.

Tasmania could way more affordably upgrade Bellerive (and York Park) to this standard.

The Eagles' initial function was similar (to inject money to save the VFL, but also from WA footy's perspective to stop some of the player drain to Melbourne). The Eagles initially didn't even have facilities, and were using school ovals for training

I don't think that's a relevant comparison though - the Bears' had exactly one function: bring in $4M to rescue the VFL from the profligate spending it had been doing through the 80s that was going to bankrupt the sport.

Problem is the ALP has no opposition. It's the closest to a one party state Australia has been with the Libs doing their best to make themselves just another minor party.

This is where the ALP could be visionary and truly make a difference. But they got here by accident, and have no plans.

I don't like the new BoM site, but to be fair, I just got to the track map in two clicks from the landing page.

Australia got rid off the similarly valued 1c and 2c coins as long ago as 1992 because they weren't worth the hassle.

New Zealand has gone further and got rid of the 5c too (which I think Australia should do along with the 10c)

Every right-wing accusation is a confession: does this mean Thiel is the Antichrist?

I would certainly be on brand. I would have guessed Bezos or Musk from the fourth circle of techboys, but Thiel is certainly a solid contender.

The system has run fine for over 100 years, it's resulted in quite a lot of different results, and you not liking it doesn't mean that it's not democratic.

You don't unilaterally get to decide the system.

(btw, a Green has a much higher chance of winning under full preferential voting than FPTP)

The people who laugh with Elon Musk aren't finding him funny, they're laughing because they're sadists who find amusement in watching Musk being cruel to people.

Well Numberblocks is my nine year old's favourite TV show, and he's great at maths (particularly times tables) as a result of it, so I reckon it's something to be proud of.

Renewables work.

Liberal leaders do not.
November 17, 2025 at 3:10 PM
But you don't understand preferential voting, clearly.

If you put Labor 2nd last, they'd get your vote *only* if the other party remaining is the one you put last.

Preferential voting means you get a say in this pairing too.

I don't think the standard for visas is "not breaking any laws" or visas would never be declined for controversial visitors.

As far as I can tell, the relevant Minister has the authority to revoke or cancel a visa based on character grounds (and being an open neo-Nazi would seem to fail those).
November 17, 2025 at 9:26 AM
Not sure that someone who says they deliberately spoiled their vote so it can't even count where they want it to should be calling *other* people a moron.
November 17, 2025 at 8:17 AM
That's not how Australian elections (except NSW state) are legislated. The purpose of preferential voting is the removal of vote wasting and the tactical voting that creates.

All votes therefore need to have a value in every round of the count

This gets the best consensus vote of the electorate.
November 17, 2025 at 8:14 AM
There's pretty unambiguous instructions - and laws - on how to fill out your ballot paper too, that have been in place for over 100 years.

If you submit an invalid vote, you can't expect it to count.
November 17, 2025 at 8:06 AM
Of course, those are mostly a selling point to the MAGA crowd.
November 17, 2025 at 6:50 AM
If you can't deport open neo-Nazis, then who can you deport?

There would be conditions on a working visa - and I'm sure appearing at a neo-Nazi rally would breach them.

Don't know, but Donald Trump would likely call that a gimme.
