This aggression will not stand, man.
Doctors should provide an automatic waiver for appointments so soon after the holidays 🤣

Completely agree. The Nimmo trade can't be judged in isolation until we see what Stearns subsequent moves are.

3 or 4

I wonder what the rest of the market is willing to give him. The fact that he hasn't signed yet, seems to indicate that no team is offering the 5 years he wants. I just hope the Mets will be flexible and offer 4 years if another team out there does. He's pivotal to the success of this team.

I'm afraid of losing Diaz. Seems like he wants more years than the Mets want to give him. He'd be difficult to replace.
November 24, 2025 at 6:41 PM
That would be awesome! If I had to guess, I think they get Bellinger and keep Baty at 3B. But that may be contingent on whether they keep Pete. Regardless they have to replace Nimmo's offense somehow.

Good ballplayer, terrible human. Several years ago, Ron Darling claimed in his book that Lenny taunted Oil Can Boyd with racial slurs from the on deck circle during Game 3 of the 86 World Series and Lenny sued him from defamation.

Agreed. I am hoping this means the Mets sign Alonso and Bellinger. It will be interesting to see what they do next.

Marcus Semien won a gold glove at 2nd base this year. I look at this as an upgrade defensively not only at 2b, but an upgrade for whoever replaces the golden retriever who had difficulty retrieving balls. I expect the Mets to sign someone who is an upgrade over Nimmo.

Hopefully he is gone soon too.

I like Nimmo too. It's hard to see him go. But I am hopeful that the Mets are planning to upgrade the position.

Just hit that follow button. You're 6 away now. #LGM

It's hard to see a homegrown guy like him leave. He was part of two amazing playoff runs and a bright spot during the losing seasons. It's a battle between the head and heart. My head tells me this is part of a bigger, much needed plan. But it doesn't make it easier to watch him go.

Unfortunately it's long offseason. It took till February until Pete signed with us last year. I don't expect it to be that long this time, but there will be a lot of rumors until he signs in December

Dude still can't hit in winter ball. Whatever happened to the bat we saw earlier in his career? I wasn't expecting a superstar but I also wasn't expecting an automatic out.
November 23, 2025 at 1:49 PM
He had a great year in 99 before he left. But when the Mets brought him back in 2002, it ranks in the top 5 of worst free agent signings in Mets history imo. He was a complete and utter waste of space on the field. Just seeing the name today made me choke on my coffee.

I must have missed Ottavino saying it was all across baseball. Thanks for the clarification
November 22, 2025 at 3:27 PM
Understandable. There are going to be bad trades like that. But we do have to give up something to get a player like Skubal. One or two of those prospects will probably be good. But the reward of Skubal is greater than the risk imo. Mets need to go for it now with Soto & Lindor in their prime.
November 22, 2025 at 2:34 PM
I'd part with either Tong or Sproat, not both & throw a different player in there. Mets fans always seem to love their prospects more than they are actually worth. We all collectively lost our minds giving up Kellenic for Diaz. Skubal can bring us a championship next year with the right other moves

Can't read the article due to paywall. One thing I disagree is that I dont think Mendoza's usage of the bullpen was unique. It's done across baseball. Obviously I didnt take a deep dive into the numbers, but if I remember correctly he burned his low leverage guys & rested his high leverage guys more

Who is being negative to you on here Charley!?! MetsSky fam has your back. Nobody messes with our Mets godfather. That being said, I found his comments interesting. I think maybe he has an ax to grind with Stearns. The only one I thought to be completely accurate was about Nimmo.
