I'm going spend the next 16 months writing up my PhD thesis on Mess & Scenographic Processes and I'd like to keep myself motivated and inspired by seeing as much messy theatre as possible.
Please send me your tips!

In what must be a record, even for me, I am sat waiting for a train realising that I am wearing three items of corduroy clothing.

Cold but insanely beautiful bike ride to school this morning.

Feeling very lucky as I settle down to some cosy work time with a hot chocolate.

Both my desks are filled with model-making stuff as I prep for a white card presentation on Monday.
So, here is my current standing laptop station:

Lost loads of work time today as my little lad's school was closed due to the floods.
Have embraced the day for what it was (less productive) And sometimes a speedy sketch can solve everything.

I don't do resolutions but I do enjoy the feeling of hope that comes with the new year.
I feel an inspiration in January that almost makes up for how I miss the Christmas tree lights on the dark mornings.
Diving into projects & PhD, emailing my MP about all the crap, embracing cosy evenings & sleep.

When your child's school knows you are a theatre designer and asks you to decorate a Santa's grotto for the school Christmas party and you aren't sure what they are expecting from you but you've turned your Conservatory into a workshop and you wonder if you may have gotten carried away...
A bright conservatory is a mess of cardboard boxes and red, pink and green coloured wrapping paper. At the far end, in front of the window, stands a toppling stack of presents and next to it a half-finished one with the pole support structure visible, poking out the top. The two finished magic stack of colourful presents stand side by side. They look like they defy gravity. They reach the ceiling.

Handed in a big chunk of PhD work and to celebrate I am spending the evening enjoying another kind of study: planning some new heists for my 'Blades In The Dark' crew. First go using the new 'Deep Cuts' expansion.

It's 6am on a Sunday, you say?
Well, my Annual Progression submission is just around the corner, I am a morning person, and I've a 4-year-old.
(Also I've bragged about it here now, so it is worth it)

Using my first post to shamelessly show off my aesthetically pleasing studio.

I'll share bits from here as I juggle design jobs and a PhD project exploring mess and theatre-making processes.
