When I think about all my former restaurant co-workers, so many of whom would be targeted because of their skin color, and regardless of their legal status... It makes me equal parts sad and furious.

It's a failure of leadership. Schumer either orchestrated this capitulation, or he doesn't have control of his caucus. Neither is acceptable, and there's no third way to interpret it. He needs to step down, and not just from leadership. He needs to resign and go tf away.

I'd wait and see what happens. I'd also look at the options are now, for you specifically, and compare that to what you're paying now. And then I'd raise hell about it to Congressional Republicans. Because it's going to be a lot, lot more.

Was it a strongly worded letter? Because I think Noem's response will be "Operation Candy Grab". Appealing to the better angels of a woman who shot a puppy for not doing her bidding is a waste of both time and a sheet of paper.

Maybe create a world that people feel okay about bringing a child into? Obviously, cost is a factor, but so is the basic notion that a dark future seems to await us all. No one wants to bring a child into a world of chaos and fear. Lots of us feel that way, and it's a valid POV.

Even if that were true, which of course it isn't, the argument you're making is that you are just as bad as you claim they are. No principle behind it, just retribution. And given that they whip up imaginary things to base it upon, it's simply justification for their evil.
