Advocating for Working Seniors. Celebrating the talents and skills of older workers, and supporting the building of age-friendly workplaces. If you're an #ElderWorker, please use Comments to share your story.
One of the assumptions underpinning my belief in #ElderWorking is that older workers can maintain their good health, and can continue to work. That's why the message from 96-year-old Nancy Schlossberg is so encouraging for those of us who intend to work forever!

Here's a wonderful idea! This couple didn't retire, they bought a Bed and Breakfast business instead. This is an inspiring plan for other #ElderWorkers who are not ready to hang up their spurs just yet.

So, If older people keep working, will they take jobs away from youth? NO! #ElderWorkers don't want the jobs that young people seek. According to the research, young people want chances for promotion, travel for work, regular hours... No. Been there, done that, thanks.

According to Investopedia, FIRE stands for Financial Independence Retire Early. It's based on extreme savings while building a nest-egg for retirement. But #ElderWorkers could use FIRE to build a nest-egg and then NOT retire. Good idea?

Working at 87 to save money for his actual old age? Great attitude that all #ElderWorkers could adopt! Enjoy this story of determination in the face of rejection, grace in accepting reality, and appreciation of chances to work.

The 10th and last reason (for now) for being an #ElderWorker is to honour my father. After lung disease forced him out of the coal mines, he worked outside as a docker until he was 77 so I could stay in school. He was widely admired for his skills, and his commitment inspires me to continue. ❤️

Didn't post yesterday because of emergency surgery! (I'm fine.) Admission at Emergency, blood tests, EEG, saw the Emerg MD, a CT scan, 2 hours of same day surgery by 3 surgeons, an overnight stay, AND this view from my Vancouver General room, ALL FOR FREE!! Tell Trump, please. Join the US?🤣#OCanada

We had an election in Canada yesterday, and I voted for Dr. Hedy Fry, who won her seat again. Aged 83, she has been in office since 1993, and is the longest serving female MP in our history. Congratulations, for winning and for being an outstanding example of an #ElderWorker

Nothing celebrates working seniors (or Elderworkers as I call them) like the movie The Intern. Sure, Robert de Niro starts off just getting coffee, but then look at how he ends up!
