Saw this memoriam today on FB. What’s interning is the target of the He 219, an RAF B-17 used in an EW role. Demonstrates the hi tech advances in the airway since 1940.

I recall the 30th anniversary getting a couple of minutes coverage on the BBC early evening news that day. I was 10 years old and had just become very interested in D-Day the year or so before after being bought a book about it. So the meagre coverage has stuck in my mind.
