Capitalism & Climate one way out The climate crisis will wipe out the entire human race if left unchecked and ecosocialism is the only way to properly address it. ECOSOCIANS. Capitalism views nature as expendable toward its ultimate goal of capital accumulation. It promotes infinite growth on a finite planet and only values nature as a commodity to profit from. The cheaper capitalists can get resources, the more their products break and need to be replaced, and the more people need to buy them, the greater their wealth. Rather than having advanced public transit like magnet trains and walkable cities, we are encouraged to rely solely on cars that are expensive and need regular maintenance and repairs. We are forced to rely on more fuel that poisons our atmosphere and further exacerbates the climate crisis. Unsustainable business practices are the most profitable, as exploitation is the heart of the capitalist doctrine. Ecosocialism shifts things back into balance by putting a focus on sustainable economic planning that centers human life, ecology, and our overall well-being. We can build a better ecosociallist system, but we have to come together and fight for it. Capitalism will not fall without a fight, and it will take all of us down with it if left unchallenged. This is why we must all come together for our collective liberation and to build a better world.

The wildfires in Maui have placed hundreds of people in a dire situation, and they need our help. The fires have burned an estimated 2,170 acres, there are still roughly 850 people missing, and at least 114 people have been confirmed dead. The fires were intensified by high winds that originated from a mix between the high-pressure system to the north and Hurricane Dora to the south. The extreme winds reached a maximum of 80 miles per hour, which likely caused the fire by downing powerlines that Hawaiian Electric failed to prepare for these conditions. Maui is already abnormally dry due to excessive drought that scientists have linked to climate change. Scientists warn that droughts like these will become more frequent as the climate change and ecological destruction continue to worsen. The combination of drought conditions and extreme weather patterns caused this devastating fire which has seen little to no response from the federal government or the state. Residents were forced to fend for themselves, trying to escape by car or even jumping into the dangerous waters near their homes. This is a testament to the way that colonizers heavily exploit stolen territories while throwing the residents to the wolves. Colonizers will take everything they can from the land and people, but the moment help is needed, they are nowhere to be found. Joe Biden's $700 per family measure is insufficient and insulting to the people there who have suffered and lost their homes, loved ones, and livelihoods to the fire. The people must rise up to take direct action against climate change and capitalism. Hawaii must be returned to its rightful stewards. For as long as capitalism and colonialism dominate there, these disasters will simply become more common in Hawaii and around the world. Our core tenets for eco socialism 1. Empowering workers of all regions, industries, and sectors to self organize in response to the climate crisis. There is an immense amount of work involved in addressing climate change, such as global ecosystem restoration, coordination of human migration from climate disaster regions, carbon sequestration and drawdown, a comprehensive re-haul of energy production and distribution, and of transportation infrastructure. The hundreds of millions of skilled workers of the world can come together to work toward all of these globe spanning tasks once capital and profit incentive no longer stand in the way. Workers of different regions and industries have a deep understanding of those regions and industries, and therefore must be able to self-organize in response to the crises those regions face by utilizing, restructuring, and reimplementing the industries they have mastery of.
