I have an adult child with ADHD (ER Nurse), another with autism (she'll fix your computer and chat about history), and a grandchild with ADHD (best reader in her class). Why would anyone NOT want these kids go get what they need to live amazing lives?

That too, and all those kids who died early get forgotten, as they leave no descendants and few records beyond, perhaps, a headstone.

Yep--I've done a lot of genealogical research for people with orphans in their family tree. 19th century kids were often raised with the EXPECTATION that their parents might die and leave them to be raised by strangers.
