I’m a history enthusiast, tailor of mid 19th century menswear, and advocate of mental health, diversity, and social justice.
I’m also a professional pet caregiver.
You will see mid 19th century medical and food posts, history, and pets.
Pronouns: She/Her
If you are a target they apply the new rules to rigidly watch out for…

A computer or bureaucrat hasn’t shortened a long or hyphenated name.

Multiple names list the same and in the same order on both documents.

A diminutive or nickname used on RealID rather than “formal” name.

Testing boundaries.
We have a plan, 10 days.
Oh, you won’t stand for that, four days.
Oh, you won’t stand for that. We made a ooopsie. Well…Someone made an oopsie.

My thoughts as well.

I shared it too.
Can’t shut up History. 😊

…and if the patient is a fat woman, her after care instructions will be a humiliating, traumatizing lecture on how everything she eats is wrong and she’s horrible for being fat.
…ummm… change dressings, follow up appointments?
Nope… corn syrup in oatmeal.
(According to label, no corn syrup)

If it’s a choice between “papers please” and not voting these people out… I’m gonna shove every possible paper in their face.
We are not living in normal times and need to think the long game.

Ask anyone in The South USA… cornbread or corn cake… no sugar in cornbread.
They’ll die on that hill.

We’re on it!
It’s nice to have a focus activity.

Can we flood the Public Comments boxes at our “local” NPSs with “Ranger Good was So Awesome” cards? Would that help?

Thank you. 😊

Sorry if I take your post on a tangent.
With DD info on our returns, will they auto-deduct without consent if we owe?

And actually thank you, sincerely, for answering that the tax penalties are gone.
That has been one of my biggest fears through this whole process.
No snark there at all.

I was one of those “millions”, so I definitely know what motivated me.
$1800 worth of tax penalties for not having insurance finally forced me to sit down and try for ACA, subsides, access, whatever.
The jargon alone was intimidating.
I’m still not convinced I’ve filed my paperwork right.
December 12, 2025 at 5:50 PM
The tax penalties for not having insurance may have had something to do with that up-tick. Snark.
“Expanded Access” finally made it cheaper to pay insurance premiums than the tax penalties.

AI also gathers photos of certain historic figures from the internet for whom no photos exist and in which other photos are attributed.
This is an especial outrage for Black Women, who are most frequently “erased” and dismissed.
See Rebecca Lee Crumpler MD and Mary Eliza Mahoney.

By colorizing and adding smiles, I think non-historians are trying to make history’s figures more “approachable” than the stern figures the photos show. That’s not a bad thing, but it is a slippery slope.
They fail to understand those stern expressions are purposeful, as you said.

I was so scatterbrained by my roomie in full on adhd manic panic yesterday morning that my autistic self forgot to take her meds until about 4pm.
No wonder I then spent the day in a depressive episode, disregulated, sleepy, with a severely unhappy gut.

It means there was a computer algorithm to gather personal data put into place while SNAP was down. When one reapplies, that algorithm is populated with personal data that can and will be used against applicants.

The REAL Book Women brought books to Appalachian communities via horse, mule, and hiking shoes.
AI will be the downfall of history study if action is not taken now.

Me too!

I am an historical interpreter for several area NPS, NHP, NBP.
I had at least one event postponed and then cancelled.
Back-up plans for further events were being spring-boarded.
While the opportunity to work with many state and local parks was welcome, NPS holds a special place in our hearts.
