About 18 years ago I was attending a tech conference. I had arrived late. Standing in the back, a well dressed older gentleman walked up to me and we had a brief chat. He all of a sudden excused himself and took the stage for his key note speech. Until he was introduced, I had no idea who he was.

This is a tax on idiots. Why on Earth would I donate money so that a multibillion $ grocery chain gets a tax write off? At the end of the campaign, they’ll donate in their name and claim the deduction. At least with lottery tickets I’d have a (ridiculously small) chance of a return. Donate directly.
