The event also featured an Easter Egg Hunt, delicious food, Sno balls, music, and interactive fun, making it a true celebration for families and residents of all ages.

With 100 giveaways and raffle prizes —including toys, school supplies, Bluetooth speakers, and headphones—and over 20 organizations coming together offering vital services and support, there was something for everyone, from kids to adults.

We talked about the value of intergenerational learning and upcoming legislation that will incarcerate more young people. The youth were engaged, vocal, and even had the chance to read their heroes’ bios while in the same room with them. There was spoken word, musical performances, and more!

South Baton Rouge is one of Louisiana's most historic civil rights neighborhoods but also one of its most disadvantaged. On Saturday, we honored Baton Rouge’s civil rights leaders while bringing youth together to discuss passing the torch, continuing the legacy, and being part of the change.
