One of favourite photos from Sutton Park in Birmingham. Mist, frost and these two silver birch co-existing during a gentle winter sunrise. This was the first photo I took that morning and nothing I captured afterwards even came close to bettering it. The joy of not overthinking things 💙
It was the only cold morning I remember during a long, damp February. Opening the car door, this is the first thing I saw. I call the image ‘Duality’. Two silver birch stand side by side on frozen ground. In winters grip, they stand alone against the mist drifting along at ground level. There is a pastel orange glow to the sky behind the trees, some high cloud above. Each blade of grass is covered in frost, a sea of white, leading to the trees that seemingly exist in isolation. A slice of nature in an urban park.
