The U.S. Department of Agriculture will begin next week to block nutrition assistance funding for states led by Democrats -- including Pennsylvania -- that have not provided data on fraud in the program, Secretary Brooke Rollins told President Donald Trump Tuesday.

Just two states in the nation - Michigan and Pennsylvania - have been unable to pass budgets for the 2025-26 fiscal year – and now, they’re staring down significant consequences if their respective legislative bodies fail to act soon.

This downward spiral of the number of working journalists in communities across the country has been happening for years.

At my former shop for example, the newsroom was systematically reduced from nine reporters and three editors to just a single reporter over the course of four years.
