A pretty cool find today in a sleepy Sapporo antique book shop - a copy of John Batchelor’s Ainu-English dictionary.
While an important text in the history of the Ainu language, I wouldn’t use it as a reference today. Batchelor’s work has been criticised a lot for having a lot of issues.

About 50 Ainu household items and tools exhibited at the 1873 Vienna World Fair and then donated to Berlin State Ethnographic Museum in Germany are returning to Hokkaido for the first time in approximately 150 years. They will be displayed at the National Ainu Museum in Shiraoi starting this July.

I think in books we will have a gothic horror revival paired with a spike of cozy fantasy soon. Vampires, werewolves, and hot cocoa.

None of you can take that phrase as a title.

So, how’s the price of eggs now? Going up. And your Medicare and Medicaid are in danger too and you can’t afford your medication without those programs. And tariffs are set to raise prices on all groceries. It’s almost as if we told you so.

I hate scabs and I support Unions fighting for their (and our) rights. But I am still mad at the Teamsters for not endorsing Harris.
BREAKING: The biggest strike against Amazon in U.S. history is happening right now.

The Teamsters are picketing facilities across the country.

The union has organized workers at 10 Amazon locations AND they're putting up picket lines at hundreds of other Amazon sites nationwide.
