Happy World Frog Day! Frogs are an important part of the complex web of life and a friend to the gardener (see last photo). #worldfrogday #youneedkermitmorethanheneedsyou

Male Common Frog numbers increased to 19 in our pond, just when I thought they would be lonely until next year, two clumps of frogspawn has appeared! @arc-trust.bsky.social #frogspawn

A visit to Oxley Creek Common in the west of Brisbane, provided plenty of interest... a flock of Galahs feeding on dandelions seeds was fantastic. #AustralianWildlife

I really loved seeing Eastern Water Dragons in the parks and botanic gardens in Brisbane, Australia. Very impressive lizards up to 90cm long, they weren't bothered by people. They climb trees, are strong swimmers and can even sleep underwater. #AustralianWildlife #reptiles #WaterDragon

In April 2023 we made a pond in our garden in southeast Hampshire. In spring 2024 three male Common Frogs turned up but no females arrived. This evening we have eight male Common Frogs, hopefully some females will arrive soon! Also our first Smooth Newt this evening too. @arc-trust.bsky.social

Here are a selection of photos from the excellent Toohey Forest Park in Brisbane. 260 hectares of forest surrounded by housing, but it still felt quite wild and offered a glimpse of what the Brisbane area was like before Europeans arrived. Captions are on the photos #AustralianWildlife

My first reptile of year, a tiny Slow Worm under a plank of wood at our allotment in southeast Hampshire. Safely moved to a compost heap nearby. @arc-trust.bsky.social #reptile #Britishreptiles

Some more urban wildlife from Brisbane back in November 2024... All very approachable and not that phased by the presence of people. #AustralianWildlife #megadiverse #urbanwildlife

Here are a few photos from a fabulous trip to Australia back in November 2024. I loved being in such a megadiverse country with so many amphibians, reptiles, birds and mammals. Even the centre of Brisbane city was teaming with wildlife. #AustralianWildlife #megadiverse
