Starting the process of sewing everything together. I'm using a special magnetic guide for the machine to make sure the overlap is exactly 12mm, to get a uniform seam, and a correct fit.

Next up I'm tracing and cutting out the pieces, preparing to actually start the sewing process. Made some test pieces to figure out the proper seam to stitch the pieces together. It's a plain seam with top stitches.

The fabric has arrived! It's a high quality 70% wool fabric, made to be really durable.

Let's put on the new foam!

Adding some better wheels. These are made out of proper metal and rubber with ball bearings.

I received the replacement foam for the back and the seat. It's a different material than the original. Hopefully it will last longer.

Here are the pieces for the seat, and you can see the condition of the foam itself. The foam is also getting replaced. Luckily Håg sells replacement parts for this model. 😌

Now I have to reverse engineer how the fabric is sewn together, by taking apart each piece.

First I'm removing the old paint with a paint stripper. It was a labour intensive task. After a second round of paint stripper, and leaving it on longer it went much better. The idea is to keep the bare steel as is. I like the industrial look.

Project: Restoring an old Håg Capisco. The chair was Designed by the legend Peter Opsvik to "invite the user to assume the greatest number of sitting postures". I really love this chair. But it's not in great condition anymore. I want to replace the foam, fabric, wheels and remove the old paint.
