🌿“Eat 30 different plant foods a wk”: catchy, but is it evidence-based?

Our new scoping review finds:
🟢No standard definition of plant food diversity
🟢Most studies focus on fruits & veg diversity only
🟢Limited evidence on gut health

New definition for "occasional constipation"!

Diagnosis if
🟥≥1 symptom of functional constipation
🟥no alarm symptoms
🟥occurs at irregular/infrequent intervals

Definition will allow more research on this #constipation entity -> improve patient care.

Thrilled to share that Prof Whelan and I have been awarded £1.5m from BBSRC @kingslsm.bsky.social.

We'll do a RCT to investigate if increasing the diversity of plant-based foods in the diet optimises gastrointestinal & cardiometabolic health.
