New protest in Belfast this Saturday 26th April at 12:00pm

It’ll be a stand-out outside Belfast Courts with some speeches and chanting

It will also be followed by some leafleting to raise awareness of the IDAHOBIT protest on 17th May

David Cullinane (Sinn Féin TD & health minister) put out the original statement

He has already apologised for “hurt and offence” and backed off after criticism and after Trans and Intersex Pride Dublin made a statement to say that they’re considering banning SF entirely
On Wednesday evening, Mr Cullinane called for the ruling to be "fully examined in this State". The Waterford TD said on social media site X: "The Scottish Supreme Court ruling on the legal meaning of woman is a common-sense judgement. "The ruling found that for the purposes of equality legislation a 'woman' means a biological woman & 'sex' refers to biological sex. "It also confirmed that trans people are protected under their equality legislation in a separate category of gender reassignment." In a tweet sent on Thursday afternoon, Mr Cullinane said: "I want to apologise for the hurt and offence that I have caused to the trans community following a tweet I sent last night. "That was never my intention. This is a complex issue for many but we need to approach it with compassion, understanding and dignity for all. "I'm sure those in the trans community will feel vulnerable and isolated today in the aftermath of yesterday's judgement, and I apologise that my words added to that." In response to the statement by David Cullinane, along with the banning of Puberty blockers, Trand and Intersex Pride Dublin asks Mary Lou McDonald and Sinn Féin to clarity her parties position on the ruling, whether it should be looked at north and south, and calls for the reversal of the puberty blocker ban. Should this not happen, Trans and Intersex Pride Dublin have came to the decision that Sinn Féin will be banned from attending our march in July.
