Misha’s first monograph, The Virginia Venture: American Colonization and English Society, 1580-1660, was published in 2022. Her current research focuses on the role of women in the development of colonisation and racial slavery in seventeenth-century Barbados.

After a PhD in History at UCL, she took up posts at the University of Kent and the University of Manchester, and was a Curator for Inclusive History at Historic Royal Palaces between 2021and 2022.

Thank you Lou. I probably should have mentioned in the post that in my spare time I continued to write and publish on Catherine of Braganza and on Catholic sequestrations, and will continue to do so. It has certainly been a busy three years!

While my future in academia is currently uncertain, I have enjoyed very much researching the history of the Little Company of Mary and their global missions, and I hope in the near future to share my findings in my forthcoming book and article. 12/

My travels for researching the book have also taken me to Chicago, Malta, Rome and Fiesole near Florence, in which I have found very moving to pay homage to the sisters who have been and gone, including visiting the cemetery where the sisters are buried in Chicago, and to pay 9/

places including Dublin and Limerick, but also travelling over 10,000 miles away to Sydney and Melbourne in Australia, Christchurch and Wellington in New Zealand, where I could see in action the everyday work that the sisters and staff do for ordinary people today. 8/

the LCM was founded in 1877, including the wonderful Heritage Centre and the tomb of the foundress Mary Potter at St Chad's Cathedral, but I also had the privilege of visiting nearly 30 archives in 6 countries where the LCM had their global missions. This has not only been in 7/

though I have to say I won't be missing the trains! A huge chunk of my fellowship was spending time in the LCM's archives in Tooting, uncovering the riches in the archives before they moved up to Durham. I enjoyed getting to know the Congregational Leadership during my visits 5/

Being a representative at Durham researching the history of the Little Company of Mary religious congregation, I never underestimated the important task ahead of me, in terms of researching their rich history, but also to do the job justice, while making the most of 3/
