In Oregon, the Democratic governor and Dem state senators are trying a cloak-and-dagger maneuver in the final days of session to pre-empt a locality (Portland area) from collecting a tax that its voters overwhelmingly passed to support universal pre-K.

With all the Reddit caveats, spend a few min on r/ECEProfessionals and you'll quickly see that the field is not OK... and I'd argue this is perhaps not the fault of fruit regs, but miscasting child care as a market good & the gvm't refusing to provide substantial public funding.

I'm a believer in a 'thermostatic' electorate (in modern times, U.S. rarely experiences durable political shifts and usually swings back within 2-8 years), but I don't think enough people are talking about just how rough the electoral map is going to get for Ds starting in '32.
