There is no situation in which there is a reasonable peace deal acceptable to Europe and Ukraine, that is also credibly agreed to by Russia.

Without genuine security guarantees and EU troops on the ground, Ukraine can't end this and survive. And Russia won't accept those terms for the same reason.

Years in, I'm yet to hear any explanation of the actual legal risk here in ways that seemed significant.

I have very little doubt Europe comes out on top eventually. But the question is how many more deaths are necessary before that happens.

Looking at how hesitant Europe and the UK were even as Germany took entire countries at the beginning of WW2, I would not be surprised if things have to get much much worse before Europe truly takes the Russian and Chinese threat seriously.

Every month a faction gets Trump in a room, and we flip from more sanctions on Russia, to pressuring Ukraine to surrender.

Trump does not care how it ends, he just wants to cash in with Russia as soon as possible, and claim peace.

There are still a lot of professional "centrists" who are of the opinion that this isn't really much to worry about because it won't succeed, so who cares.

And even when it does succeed they don't seem to care that much? They tut-tut, but otherwise view this as a game
