I wrote an op-ed in the daily news advocating for a transit mayor, something New York has not had in generations. While my op-ed is incredible, ***however***, I learned that the daily news publishes a magic eye?

North American transit projects are plagued by sound walls. We even put them on elevated guideways along highways. When I looked at some projects abroad, I didn't see nearly as many sounds walls, even in crowded city centers with lots of people. Let's end the tyranny of sound walls once and for all.

Look at these public agencies. They get the utility relocation info and they respond. The private entities, not so much.

Looking through SAS2 contract news: 1) the less NYC experienced team won; 2) the schedule is aggressive, which is good. 4yrs for tunnels and 2 station shells. Phase 1 tunnel took 5 years; 3) costs look comparable to phase 1; 4) TBM labor in-line with conventional staffing, not sure about rest:

Vicious. I think @zohrankmamdani.bsky.social, I mean Mr. Cardamom meant to tweet, “Cuomo, like short sleeves, I bear arms…”

This is cool. Everyone talks about expanding the electorate, but Mamdani spurred bitcoin rates of change in voter registrations.

Love this piece by @mattyglesias.bsky.social. To me, the city is the original internet. Early novels about urban living in the 19th century, like Notes from Underground or Hunger, get at these same issues:

The photography crimes continue. At least the bagel order is on point.
June 11, 2025 at 1:10 PM
Is this a photography crime? Look directly into the camera, and you could be the next mayor!

And you can touch fordham gneiss. New York’s most venerable rock.

Gotta head out to the New York hall of science to see the new City Works exhibit.
