Girard says that culture is formed when people spontaneously unite against a single victim. The war of “each against each” becomes the unity of “all against one”—the principle of the scapegoat. Out of the corpse of the scapegoat victim grows the sacrificial cult which is the origin of every society.

Being disliked is not failure. It’s the price of an authentic life. You cannot please everyone if you’re being yourself.

This was the smart move. Never had a problem voting before but I’m hearing about widespread hours-long lineups. That’s gonna deter the already-low expected turnout.

One of my favourite games. I was really looking forward it today. Unfortunately, the experience has been disappointing so far—it’s buggy and poorly optimised on my PS5 Pro. Menus often refuse to close when prompted, and, embarrassingly, Death Stranding and Spider-Man load in a fraction of the time.

Companies like @playstation.com and @suckerpunchprod.bsky.social have caved to a new wave of #GamerGate -style hate, pressured by a faction of trolls threatening #GhostOfYotei sales. Unfortunately, it seems these companies still lack the strategies to handle this kind of coordinated harassment.

They lied to you, then took the money you gave them and used it to pay more people to lie to you. I’m a bit suspicious of those who were on the payroll realizing only *now* that the Dems are in on the GOP con.

You mistake clarity for edge. One of us is clinging to a fantasy. All I’ve done is invite you to live exactly as you preach—and wish you luck if reality ever comes knocking.

If the social contract applies to the aggressor, it applies to the victim too. Self-defense isn’t a suspension of morality, it’s the exercise of it. To claim otherwise flips morality on its head and excuses the aggressor while burdening the victim.

Calling my view “insane” or a “sick fantasy” doesn’t strengthen your case; it just shows you can’t defend it on reason.

Let’s just agree we’re both grateful not to be neighbours.

Yes, we have laws and collective myths that bind us, but denying the elemental right of self-defense is not civility — it is a distortion of it. A society that treats aggressor and victim as morally equivalent betrays the very contract it claims to uphold.
