You also have the whole rogue-like genre that comes from the game Rogue. Ultima and Wizardry i believe are still played today, but their recent releases just don't come with the same fanfare.

I wouldn't say they aren't lauded, but their legacy is more evolved than it was when it first released. You have those whom grew up with the games still loving them, but the mechanics they introduced are more well known. For example, BotW wouldn't be as lauded had it not remained the original LoZ.
