That would be the logical thing to do, but unfortunately some schools decide their students should just, suffer I guess? Glad the school I went to didn’t do blazers, not sure I ever heard anyone say they liked them

UK schools have plenty of arbitrary, illogical bs. My mum works as an invigilator and watched the deputy head try to prevent a kid entering a GCSE exam because she'd dyed her hair. Yes, jeapordise this child's future because they dared to express themself, that's definitely what teaching is about
